I had the same problem just a few minutes ago. On my machine the
issue was a leftover /usr/local/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.3800.0. The
update installed libgobject-2.0.so.4000.0, but that was not picked
up by programs using it. Since they were linked against the new
version and loaded the old at runtime, *BAM*.

Removing the old file fixes the problem. Note that you might have
to rebuild ports that linked against that file.

Hi Zé,

I tried again at ftp.openbsd.org, ftp.fr.openbsd.org, ftp.eu.openbsd.org, ftp.bytemine.net, openbsd.cs.fau.de:
None of them has any claws-mail-* packages. The last two have been checked for 11+ hours ...

Trying to install from ports gives an error:
$ claws-mail
**
GLib-GObject:ERROR:gtype.c:2731:g_type_register_static: assertion failed: (static_quark_type_flags)
Abort trap (core dumped)

Almost the same with xombrero:
$ xombrero
xombrero:/usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.27.0: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.26.0 : WARNING: symbol(sqlite3_version) size mismatch, relink your program
xombrero:/usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.27.0: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.26.0 : WARNING: symbol(sqlite3OpcodeProperty) size mismatch, relink your program
xombrero:/usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.27.0: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.26.0 : WARNING: symbol(sqlite3Config) size mismatch, relink your program
xombrero:/usr/local/lib/libestdc++.so.14.0: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.57.0 : WARNING: symbol(_ZN11__gnu_debug17_S_debug_messagesE) size mismatch, relink your program

(process:17970): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type 'gchar'
**
GLib-GObject:ERROR:gvaluetypes.c:455:_g_value_types_init: assertion failed: (type == G_TYPE_CHAR)
Abort trap

Veeeery strange... Any hint on how to proceed is welcome!
(dmesg at the end)

Cheers,
STEFAN

I can find it on ftp.eu.openbsd.org and ftp.fr.openbsd.org (both dated 31-Mar-2014). Maybe you caught the server while it was syncing...

I rebuilt glib2 and the packages it depends on from ports, and then
replaced the already installed packages with the freshly built ones.
Maybe the uninstall/install process cleaned things up and removed the
old file Gregor mentioned. I did the same with vim, and it works now,
but so does xombrero, which I didn't rebuild. So I think reinstalling
glib2 is enough, but don't take this for granted, I'm not entirely sure.

Anyway, I think the best strategy is to remove the file manually and
reinstall (pkg_add -r) any packages that fail.

Bear in mind that the claws-mail-* package files *are* on the servers (I
just re-checked on a different computer, using a browser). It's the
clients you use to fetch them that are failing.

BZZT, wrong.
you are checking amd64 (presumably).
he is using i386 (as indicated in many of his messages).
i386 does not have the packages built.

OP: wait a few days for the next round, and for the uploaded packages to
filter through to all of the mirrors. Or, build them on your own.

Hi Peter,
Hi misc@!

(1) I waited - but claws-mail is still not in the set of packages though everything got update by April 5th.

(2) I tried to compile from ports - I try to be polite... why the .... is there a dependency for "gnome-online-acccounts"??? I only want claws-mail, no Gnome...

Anything I can do at this point of time? Any clues?

Webkit was still broken on i386 for that build run.

The next build run will have it working.

OpenBSD optimizes ports for building a complete set of packages as
quickly as possible, rather than for building ports individually.
This often means building with optional components enabled by
default and splitting at the packaging stage.

Stuart,

thank you for your explanation - even I got it. :-)

Any hint if it is possible to change this specifically for claws-mail or
where to read on? I looked at 'man ports' which gave some hints, but I
didn't outright found what to do.

I did a 'sudo make REPORT_PROBLEM=true' which provided the same error
note as previously reported. I commented the 'libdepend' on
'X11/gnome/online-accounts' and deleted WANTLIB for goa-1.0 ... well:
This produced still an error for 'goa' not being found in the pkg_path
along with a remark to set environment variables for GNOME_CFLAGS and
GNOME_LIBS. Reading pkg-config is a little bit beyond my expertise to
fiddle without taking a lot of time to understand the details.

So for the time being I said farewell to claws-mail and installed
Thunderbird instead. Sad, I liked it.

Cheers,
STEFAN

I can find it on ftp.eu.openbsd.org and ftp.fr.openbsd.org (both dated 31-Mar-2014). Maybe you caught the server while it was syncing...

It has a build dependency on webkit, which is broken on i386 in -current.
